Ectopic Cushing syndrome (EAS) is a rare condition characterized by ACTH-dependent hypercortisolism resistant to normal physiologic suppression by glucocorticoids. EAS is due to an extra-pituitary tumor producing bioactive molecules generated by post-translational cleavage of the proopiomelanocortin gene (POMC).
